Shin Min-a is set to make a cinematic comeback in the upcoming fantasy drama film, "Our Season," after her role in the mystery thriller "Diva" three years ago. The film, directed by Yook Sang-hyo and scripted by Yoo Young-ah, is scheduled to premiere in local theaters on December 6.
The narrative revolves around Bok-ja (Kim Hae-sook), a mother who embarks on a unique vacation from Heaven. After three years since her passing, Bok-ja is granted three days as a spirit on Earth to watch over her accomplished daughter, Jin-joo (Shin), a professor at a prestigious U.S. college. Unbeknownst to Bok-ja, Jin-joo has returned to their former home. As a spirit, Bok-ja faces challenges in connecting with her daughter, discovering new aspects of Jin-joo's life over the course of the three days.
During a press conference for the film, Shin expressed her admiration for the portrayal of the universal emotion in mother-daughter relationships. She emphasized the film's ability to evoke sentiments about lost loved ones, describing it as a heartwarming depiction of the mother-daughter bond.
Director Yook Sang-hyo shared his emotional response to the script, revealing that its powerful portrayal of a mother-daughter relationship moved him deeply. He characterized the film as a story about longing, hoping that viewers would feel a sense of yearning for their families, whether physically present or gone.
In the film, Jin-joo takes over the restaurant once run by Bok-ja, leading a peaceful life in a suburban town. Shin Min-a, though not particularly fond of cooking, shared her newfound interest in the culinary arts. The actress expressed a desire to learn cooking from her mother, inspired by the film's exploration of the significance of preparing a simple meal for loved ones.
