On a vibrant Saturday night, the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta witnessed an electric gathering of more than 50,000 passionate K-pop fans at the "SMTOWN LIVE 2023 SMCU PALACE @ Jakarta with KB Bank" concert, as reported by SM Entertainment.
The concert showcased an impressive lineup of SM Entertainment's beloved boy bands and girl groups, including TVQX, NCT 127, NCT Dream, Super Junior, Red Velvet, and aespa. The newly debuted boy band, Riize, also took the stage, making it a musical feast for the fans in attendance.
Indonesian fans had eagerly awaited this moment for 11 long years, and their enthusiasm was palpable as the concert quickly sold out, leaving some ardent fans tailgating outside the stadium in hopes of catching a glimpse of the performances.
Adding to the global fervor, fans from all corners of the world joined the extravaganza online, tuning in via streaming platforms such as HYBE's Weverse, Japan’s KNTV, and Beyond Live.
The concert featured an impressive repertoire of 41 songs, captivating the audience for approximately four hours, beginning with the opening act at 6:30 p.m. The artists delighted the crowd by performing popular hits from their extensive music catalogs, featuring well-loved tracks like “MIROTIC” (2008), “KICK IT” (2020), “Candy” (2022), “SORRY SORRY” (2009), “Get A Guitar,” “Red Flavor” (2017), and “Next Level” (2021). Notable collaborative performances, including one titled “ZOO” by Giselle from aespa and Taeyong, Jeno, Hendrey, and Yangyang from NCT, added to the excitement. The grand finale was marked by a collective performance of “Light” (2021), symbolizing the spirit of SMTOWN.
TVXQ expressed their anticipation for reuniting with Indonesian fans, highlighting the festival-like atmosphere that SMTOWN concerts are known for. Super Junior, recognizing the significant 50-year mark of relations between Indonesia and Korea, emphasized the event's exceptional meaning.
For over a decade, SM Entertainment has stood at the forefront of the K-pop industry, nurturing artists who have achieved immense fame and success. The global journey of "SMTOWN LIVE" commenced in 2008, aiming to unite and delight K-pop enthusiasts across the world, with tour stops in major international cities like New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Dubai, Tokyo, Beijing, Singapore, and Santiago.
