In a pivotal moment of their 2 1/2-year project tenure, Kep1er, the project girl group born from Mnet's acclaimed audition program "Girls Planet 999" in 2021, expresses aspirations to extend their journey through the medium of their latest album, "Magic Hour."
Since their official debut in January 2022, the nonet has been slated for a project-based venture set to conclude in July 2024. Their Monday release of "Magic Hour," the group's fifth EP, arrives just five months after their last offering, "Lovestruck!" in April. During this period, the girls embarked on their inaugural arena tour "Fly-By" in Japan, connecting with a staggering 50,000 fans.
"Magic Hour" narrates yet another captivating love story, propelled by its title track "Galileo," embodying the bandmates' desire for universal love that illuminates life's brighter moments. The album introduces a novel approach as the girls divide into units, delivering a Latin-infused medium pop titled "Tropical Light" by Choi Yu-jin, Xiaoting, Seo Young-eun, and Kang Ye-seo, alongside a groovy old school hip-hop track "Tape" by Mashiro, Kim Chae-hyun, Kim Da-yeon, Hikaru, and Huening Bahiyyih.
Amongst the album's tracks are two sidetracks, "The Door" and "Love On Lock," adding to the diverse musical landscape presented by Kep1er.
As their contracts approach their final 10 months, discussions regarding the group's continuation are underway with management agencies WakeOne and Swing Entertainment. The co-representatives of the band are engaging in negotiations with the members to determine the path forward.
Reflecting on their journey, leader Choi Yu-jin emphasized the group's commitment to their fans, stating, "We prioritize our fans' support and love the most. We hope to focus on showing more to them."
Xiaoting expressed hopes for new achievements with the release of the new album, aspiring to secure wins on music shows and make their mark on top music charts. The group eagerly anticipates that "Magic Hour" will cast a captivating spell not only for their fans but also for Kep1er.
In the upcoming month, the group is set to unveil their second fan meeting, "Kep1er's Strange Market," both in South Korea and Japan, further cementing their bond with their dedicated fanbase.
