K-pop veteran Lee Hyori returns to the music scene on Thursday with her latest digital single, "Hoodie e Banbaji," marking her first musical release in six years since her sixth album "Black" in 2017. The title, translated to "hoodie on shorts" in Korean, symbolizes the singer's laid-back everyday attire.
Representatives from her agency, Antenna, describe the new song as an easy-listening tune that narrates Lee's personal journey of forging her unique path. Collaborating with hip-hop musician Hangzoo, Lee participated in crafting the lyrics, composition, and production of the song. The choreography was developed by the female dance crew Maple Lip, and the music video features appearances from the male hip-hop team Bank Two Brothers.
Lee Hyori made her debut in 1998 as part of the girl group Fin.K.L and later embarked on a solo career in 2003 with her first LP, "Stylish." Over the years, she has achieved significant success with multiple hits like "10 Minutes," "U-Go-Girl," "Get Ya," "Hey Mr. Big," and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang."
Taking a hiatus from the entertainment industry in 2013 after her marriage to songwriter and guitarist Lee Sang-soon, she reentered the spotlight in 2017 with the popular JTBC variety show "Lee Hyori’s BnB." That same year, she made her comeback as a singer with the album "Black."
Lee Hyori's new digital single, "Hoodie e Banbaji," is scheduled for release at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
