In a prestigious ceremony held at Buckingham Palace, South Korean girl group Blackpink received honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) awards from King Charles of the United Kingdom. The four band members—Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose—accepted their medals, with Rose's acknowledgment coming without the honorary classification due to her dual citizenship in New Zealand.

The accolades were presented in recognition of Blackpink's notable contributions to raising awareness about climate change. King Charles commended the group for their role as ambassadors during the UK's presidency of COP26 and their subsequent advocacy for the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

During a state banquet held in honor of the state visit, King Charles expressed admiration for the younger generation in Korea, particularly highlighting their dedication to environmental causes. The monarch applauded Blackpink, collectively known for their global impact, acknowledging their efforts in conveying the message of environmental sustainability to a diverse audience.

The awards mark a significant acknowledgment of the group's commitment to environmental advocacy and their influential role in promoting global awareness of pressing issues such as climate change.
