Renowned Pianist to Present Four Performances Under the Theme "Leaf Novel"
▲ Courtesy of Kumho Art HallThe Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation annually selects a classical musician under the age of 30 in the early stages of their career as the artist-in-residence, offering a dedicated platform for regular performances. Kim follows in the footsteps of previous participants, including Sunwoo Yekwon in 2016 and violinist Yang In-mo, winner of the Paganini Competition and Sibelius Competition, among others.
As the 2024 artist-in-residence, Kim will present four performances throughout the year, each centered around the theme "Leaf Novel," symbolizing concise short stories.
The series kicks off on January 11, 2024, with Kumho Art Hall's New Year Concert, titled "Here & Now."
The second concert, scheduled for May 9, will feature pianist Yukine Kuroki alongside Kim, presenting piano duets by Schumann and Brahms, highlighting melodic beauty and poetic sensibility.
On August 22, the third concert, "Scenic Stroll," will showcase a collaboration with flutist Kim Yu-bin and cellist Moon Tae-guk, presenting works by Debussy.
The final performance of Kim's residency, titled "Toward the Bell," is set for November 14.
Simultaneously, Kumho Art Hall unveiled its "Beautiful Thursday Concert Series" program for 2024, featuring the Kumho Exclusive, International Masters, Kumho Rising Star, Kumho Soloists concert series, and more. The program, hosting performances on Thursdays, includes notable musicians such as Eliso Virsaladze, Paul Lewis, Vadym Kholodenko, Stephen Hough, and Nelson Goerner, among others. Rising stars like violinist Chung Nu-rie, trombonist Seo Ju-hyun, guitarist Ahn Young-heon, and baritone Kim Tae-han will also grace the stage throughout the year.

Pianist Kim Jun-hyung, the second prize winner of the 2022 ARD International Music Competition's piano category, has been appointed as Kumho Art Hall's artist-in-residence for the upcoming year, as confirmed by the Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation on Wednesday.
Born in 1997, Kim initiated his musical journey with piano lessons at age 10 and debuted as part of the Kumho Prodigy Concert Series in 2012. Currently pursuing a master's degree in New Music at The University of Music and Performing Arts Munich under the guidance of Antti Siirala, Kim holds bachelor's and master's degrees in piano.
