Sotheby’s New York’s upcoming Modern Evening Auction in New York on November 14 will bid on a great painting, "The Last Time Composition No. II (1930)" by the Dutch modernist Piet Mondrian, who developed early paintings of landscapes to geometric abstract works. It's likely that the price will be great as well. which is expected to sell for more than $50 million. This is almost forty years after it was first sold.
The last time Composition No. II (1930) by Piet Mondrian went up for auction, it sold for $2.2 million US. According to the New York Times, this made it not only the most expensive painting ever sold by the artist, but also the most valuable piece of abstract art.
In fact, a sale like this would be a sort of comeback. When it sold for $2 million in 1983, Composition No. II was the most expensive Mondrian at the time.
