Malaysia's Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming presented Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim with a specially commissioned sculpture titled "Rise Up Together" to celebrate the leader's 78th birthday. The meaningful artwork was created to commemorate this milestone occasion and carries deep symbolic significance for the nation.
The sculpture was specially commissioned during Nga's official visit to Nairobi, Kenya, where he attended the UN-Habitat General Assembly in his capacity as president of the United Nations-Habitat Assembly. According to Nga, the artwork was customized during this diplomatic mission and is designed to symbolize national unity and harmony amid Malaysia's rich diversity of cultures, races, and religions.
"The artwork represents the strength and unity of Malaysians of all races and religions standing together as one, reflecting the core vision of the Malaysia Madani government to unite the nation and lead it to greater heights," Nga explained in an official statement. The minister, who also serves as the deputy chairman of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), emphasized how the sculpture embodies the government's commitment to fostering inclusivity and national cohesion.
Nga praised the political stability that the Madani administration has achieved under Anwar's leadership over the past two years. He highlighted how this stability has brought an end to a particularly turbulent period in Malaysian politics that saw three different prime ministers take office within just four years, creating significant uncertainty for the nation.
The minister pointed to several indicators of Malaysia's progress under the current administration, including a growing economy, a strengthening Malaysian ringgit, and significant improvements in the country's global competitiveness rankings. "With a growing economy, a strengthening ringgit, and significant improvements in our global competitiveness ranking, Malaysia is on the right track. It is crucial that we continue to safeguard unity and harmony to ensure lasting peace and progress," Nga stated.
Nga also emphasized Malaysia's enhanced international standing under Anwar's leadership, specifically citing the Prime Minister's recent successful role in mediating a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia. This diplomatic achievement received widespread praise from world leaders and demonstrated Malaysia's growing influence and respected position on the global stage.
"Under Malaysia Madani, our diverse communities can become more united, prosperous, and progressive. The Prime Minister not only champions inclusivity at home but also showcases Malaysia's leadership globally," Nga remarked. He expressed confidence that under Anwar's continued leadership, Malaysia will successfully realize the vision embodied in the "Rise Up Together" sculpture and establish itself as a model nation of harmony for other diverse societies to emulate.
