The Oz Asia Festival, South Australia's premier celebration of arts and culture, will showcase Korean webtoon artists in a three-day event at the Adelaide Convention Centre from November 7-9, 2025. The festival will feature renowned Korean webtoon artist Joo Dong Geun, best known for creating "All of Us Are Dead," through a series of inspiring programs that bring comics and storytelling to life.
The festival opens on Friday, November 7 at 4:30 PM with an Opening Night Gala, offering attendees the exclusive opportunity to meet all participating artists and authors. This official opening ceremony marks the beginning of what organizers describe as an exciting cultural event returning to Adelaide.
On Sunday, November 9, the festival will present two major programs exploring the world of comics and artistic expression. At 11:00 AM, "A Brave New Space" will feature a lively discussion exploring three different cultural expressions of comics, spanning artistic traditions from east to west Asia. This panel discussion aims to highlight the diverse approaches to comic art across different Asian cultures.
The festival concludes on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 PM with "Drawn to Life," a live drawing workshop featuring both Joo Dong Geun and Queenie Chan. This interactive session will allow audience members to witness creativity unfolding in real-time as the artists demonstrate their techniques and creative processes.
The event represents a collaboration between the Korean Cultural Center and the Oz Asia Festival, bringing international recognition to Korean webtoon culture and its growing global influence. Through these programs, attendees will gain insight into the vibrant world of Korean digital comics and their impact on contemporary storytelling.
