Japanese baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani arrived in South Korea on Friday to prepare for historic Major League Baseball (MLB) games in Seoul. His arrival at Incheon International Airport garnered enthusiastic cheers from hundreds of fans, including members of the "Shotime Korea" fan club dedicated to Ohtani.
Speaking at a press conference at Gocheok Sky Dome, Ohtani expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome from South Korean fans, highlighting the mutual respect between Japan and South Korea in sports. He expressed his desire to perform well and entertain the audience during the upcoming Seoul Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres.
Joining Ohtani at the press conference were Dodgers teammates Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, both former MVPs, who acknowledged the high expectations placed on the team following notable offseason acquisitions.
While acknowledging the opportunity for team bonding and cultural exploration during their visit to South Korea, Betts emphasized the importance of staying focused on winning games, echoing the sentiment shared by the team amidst high expectations for the upcoming season.
