Prosecutors on Friday sought a one-year prison sentence for O Yeong-su, the 79-year-old winner of a 2022 Golden Globe award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role on TV for his part in the Netflix series "Squid Game." O is facing charges of sexually harassing a woman in 2017.

The indictment, filed in November 2022, alleges that O hugged and kissed a woman against her will between August and September 2017 during a two-month tour to a regional area for a performance.

O has consistently denied the charges in previous hearings.

The veteran actor, renowned for his role as the orchestrator of the death game in the widely acclaimed "Squid Game," expressed distress in his final remarks, stating, "Standing trial for things like this at this age, I am in such pain and agony ... I feel my whole life is falling apart."

The court is expected to deliver its verdict on O Yeong-su's case on March 15.
