Pace Gallery Triumphs at Frieze Seoul 2023 with Stellar Artist Lineup and Strong Sales

Seoul SayArt- In a resounding success at Frieze Seoul 2023, Pace Gallery, a renowned art institution, left an indelible mark on Asian audiences by featuring works of iconic artists, including the late Lawrence Weiner and celebrated Korean talent Lee Kun-Yong.
Pace Gallery Director Ruri Rhee shared her thoughts in an exclusive interview with Sayart on the closing day of the fair, stating, "We observed a noticeable increase in overseas attendees compared to the previous year. Our sales performance mirrored last year's success, and we are optimistic about the future. There is growing interest from international galleries in the Korean art scene, and our gallery's presence among Korean audiences has notably surged. We are committed to maintaining this momentum with an even greater sense of responsibility."
The culmination of the fair also saw Pace Gallery unveiling the sales results of Frieze Seoul 2023:
Lee Kun-Yong, the acclaimed Korean artist exclusive to Pace Gallery, saw his work 'Bodyscape 76-1-2021(2021)' fetch an impressive $140,000 USD (189,000,000 KRW), while 'Bodyscape 76-3-2023(2023)' commanded a notable $75,000 USD (101,000,000 KRW).
Matthew Day Jackson's striking 6-foot painting found a new home for an impressive $185,000 USD (250,000,000 KRW).
Kohei Nawa's artwork garnered attention and was sold for $36,000 USD (48,207,620 KRW).
Kiki Smith's second recent cyanotype print was acquired for $20,000 USD (27,000,000 KRW), showcasing the enduring allure of her work.
A compelling painting by Cuban artist Alejandro Piñeiro Bello changed hands for $25,000 USD (33,476,691 KRW), reflecting the global appeal of Cuban contemporary art.
Torkwase Dyson's two works on paper found buyers at $11,000 USD (14,729,744 KRW), reinforcing the artist's growing recognition.
Meanwhile, Pace Gallery is a prominent and internationally renowned art gallery known for its significant contributions to the contemporary art world. The gallery has a strong presence in the United States and Asia, including Seoul, and represents a diverse roster of celebrated artists, both established and emerging.
