Actor Kim Myung-soo, also known as L from Infinite, discussed his new romantic comedy series, "Dare to Love Me," during a press conference at a hotel in southwestern Seoul's Guro District.
Kim described the series as having an interesting mix of historical elements set in a modern-day setting. He emphasized its unique charm, stating that the story unfolds with elements typically found in time travel narratives but within the real world.
"Dare to Love Me" revolves around a conservative man, Shin Yoon-bok (played by Kim), and an optimistic woman, Kim Hong-do (portrayed by Lee Yoo-young). Shin, residing in a Confucian village called Seongsan, encounters Kim, a contract employee at a fashion company with dreams of becoming a fashion designer.
Despite a modest 2.3 percent viewership rating for its premiere, the series promises a blend of comedy and romance as it portrays the growth of its characters, from a former student-teacher relationship to lovers.
Kim highlighted the refreshing comedy arising from his character's exposure to modern life after leaving the traditional village, while Lee expressed her excitement to explore the comedy genre in her role.
The director, emphasizing the series' themes of family, dreams, and hope, guided the actors in finding the balance between humor and sincerity in their performances.
