Byeon Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon have been announced as the leads in tvN's upcoming drama series "Loverly Runner," the cable network revealed on Wednesday. The highly anticipated show combines elements of romance, tragedy, and science fiction, promising a captivating narrative that explores the power of love and the mysteries of time travel.

"Loverly Runner" follows the captivating tale of Ryu Sun-jae, portrayed by Byeon Woo-seok, a beloved celebrity who meets a tragic end. Kim Hye-yoon takes on the role of Lim Sol, an ardent fan who finds herself transported back in time in a bid to alter Sun-jae's fate. As the story unfolds, the drama seamlessly merges emotional depth with a captivating sci-fi element.

Based on the popular web novel "The Best of Tomorrow" by Kim Bbang, "Loverly Runner" marks another adaptation of a Korean series from online literature. Screenwriter Lee Si-eun, renowned for her work on the tvN drama "True Beauty" (2020), skillfully brings the web novel's essence to life through her adaptation.

Byeon Woo-seok, initially making his mark as a model, transitioned into acting with a minor role in the JTBC drama "Dear My Friends" in 2016. Since then, he has showcased his versatility through memorable performances in various TV series and films, including "Search: WWW" (2019), "Record of Youth" (2020), "20th Century Girl" (2022), and "Soulmate" (2023).

Kim Hye-yoon rose to prominence with her breakthrough role as a determined and ambitious young woman in the acclaimed 2018 series "Sky Castle." She has since portrayed diverse characters in both television and film, including a quick-witted high school student in the romantic comedy series "Extraordinary You" (2019) and a Joseon-era woman challenging societal norms in "Secret Royal Inspector & Joy" (2021). Her exceptional talent has garnered recognition, including the Best New Actress award at the 2022 Blue Dragon Awards and the Rising Star Asia award at the New York Asian Film Festival's Star Asia Awards for her performance in the Korean thriller film "The Girl on a Bulldozer." In addition, she was named Forbes' 30 under 30 Asia in 2022.
