The stage production, featuring music and lyrics by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen, and a book by Kait Kerrigan, is part of Shin's ambitious endeavor to extend his domestic success to Broadway and beyond. As the sole lead producer, Shin has previously worked on productions such as "Holler If Ya Hear Me" and "Doctor Zhivago."
OD Company's recent original production, "Il Tenoro," set during the Japanese occupation in the 1930s, is currently running in Seoul, receiving positive reviews from both audiences and critics.
In a statement, Shin expressed his aspiration to create a work that expands the understanding and interpretation of the era for modern audiences, aiming for global recognition beyond Korea. The Broadway debut of "The Great Gatsby" is seen as a significant step toward achieving this goal.
