South Korean boy band Tomorrow X Together (TXT) has set new records with their latest album, "The Name Chapter: Freefall." Released on Friday, the album garnered significant attention and achieved remarkable sales and streaming milestones within its first day.
The album achieved remarkable first-day sales in Japan, with a total of 225,184 copies sold, debuting at the top of Oricon's daily album ranking. This figure surpassed the band's previous first-day sales record in Japan, set by their fifth EP, "The Name Chapter: Temptation," which sold 184,971 copies in January.
"The Name Chapter: Freefall" also made waves on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming service. The album entered Spotify's Daily Top Song Global chart at No. 89 and secured the No. 69 spot on Spotify's Daily Top Artist Global chart.
TXT is anticipated to attain their second double million-seller title with this album. The first-day sales for "The Name Chapter: Freefall" reached an impressive 1,927,363 copies, breaking their previous record set by "The Name Chapter: Temptation," which logged 1.86 million copies on its first day. The fifth EP went on to achieve 2 million copies in sales within six days, marking the group's first album to reach this milestone.
To celebrate the album's release, TXT hosted a fan showcase event at the Kyung Hee University Grand Peace Palace in Seoul, providing fans with an immersive experience into the new album through performances and sharing sessions. The event featured acoustic versions of their past hits and concluded with a performance of the main song from "The Name Chapter: Freefall," titled "Chasing That Feeling."
In a statement released by their agency, Big Hit Music, the group expressed their gratitude to their fandom, Moa, and promised to create memorable experiences through appearances on various variety programs. The event saw approximately 3,200 in-person attendees in Seoul, with numerous fans tuning in to the livestream on the Weverse platform from 177 countries, including Japan, America, and the UK.
