Cube Entertainment revealed on Wednesday that (G)I-dle's second studio album, titled "2," has amassed a remarkable 1.8 million pre-orders ahead of its scheduled release on January 29. This figure surpasses the pre-order count of their previous album, the sixth EP titled "I Feel."

▲ Courtesy of Cube EntertainmentThe upcoming album's pre-order achievement now stands as a record for (G)I-dle and is notably on par with aespa's third EP, "My World," which holds the second position for K-pop girl groups. The only album ahead in pre-orders for a K-pop girl group is Blackpink's second LP, "Born Pink," with a total of 2 million pre-orders.

(G)I-dle's sixth EP, "I Feel," previously secured its place in history by selling over 1.16 million copies in its first week. This made it the fourth most-sold album from a K-pop girl group at that time.

In a parallel development, the pre-release track from the upcoming album, titled "Wife," stirred controversy upon its release on Monday. The song's lyrics, penned by Soyeon, were deemed "unsuitable" for broadcast by KBS due to sexual implications.
