K-pop Sensation Joins Star-Studded Cast in Fantasy Movie Adaptation

In an announcement by Lotte Entertainment, singer and actor Kim Ji-soo, widely recognized as Jisoo from the globally renowned K-pop group BLACKPINK, is set to make her debut in a supporting role in the upcoming fantasy film "Omniscient Reader." The movie, based on a popular webcomic of the same name, features a star-studded cast, including Lee Min-ho and Ahn Hyo-seop. 

▲ Courtesy of Lotte EntertainmentThe storyline centers around Kim Dok-ja (Ahn Hyo-seop), an ordinary office worker engrossed in a decade-old apocalyptic web novel. When the narrative transforms into reality, Kim Dok-ja, possessing exclusive knowledge of the ending, teams up with the novel's protagonist, Yoo Joong-hyuk (Lee Min-ho), who has a unique ability to survive death. Together, they embark on a mission to alter the storyline and save the world.

Jisoo, known for her role as BLACKPINK's lead vocalist since the group's debut in 2016, will portray the character Lee Ji-hye. As Yoo's colleague, Lee Ji-hye utilizes her combat skills to assist Yoo and Kim Dok-ja in their journey to reshape the unfolding events. Actor Chae Soo-bin takes on the role of Yoo Sang-ah, Kim Dok-ja's former co-worker, who finds herself in the world where the novel becomes reality.

Jisoo, having ventured into acting with a lead role in the JTBC drama series "Snowdrop" in 2021, adds another dimension to her career with this supporting role in "Omniscient Reader."
