The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards returned to New York City to celebrate this year's biggest music stars, hosted by none other than Megan Thee Stallion, the Houston sensation.

Performers included Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, and Rauw Alejandro. Roan made her awards show debut with a stunning performance of her hit "Good Luck, Babe!" dressed in a "Joan of Arc" theme, delighting fans. Carpenter honored iconic blondes with nods to Britney Spears, Madonna, and Marilyn Monroe during her medley of "Please Please Please," "Taste," and "Espresso."

Taylor Swift dominated the night, winning nearly every award she was nominated for, including the prestigious Video of the Year, setting a new record with five wins in that category. The night was historic as Taylor Swift surpassed Beyoncé’s record for the most solo VMA wins, reaching a total of 30, compared to Beyoncé's 26. Additionally, Beyoncé has two more wins with Destiny's Child and two with her husband Jay-Z as The Carters. Swift also made history by becoming the first artist to win Video of the Year five times.
