His successful stint with the Red Devils includes winning the UEFA Europa League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup in the 2017-18 season. Lingard had loan spells with various English clubs and had been a free agent since leaving Nottingham Forest last summer before joining FC Seoul.

The midfielder, primarily an attacking midfielder or winger, acknowledged that he is not currently match fit but has been training rigorously to prepare for the upcoming season. FC Seoul's commitment, as evidenced by a written contract offer, influenced Lingard's decision to choose the K League 1 over other verbal offers, including one from Saudi Arabia.

Lingard, also involved in business ventures with his own clothing brand and esports brand, assured that football remains his top priority. Despite his first move to play abroad and adapt to a new culture, Lingard expressed confidence in making a smooth transition and looks forward to working with FC Seoul's new head coach, Kim Gi-dong, known for his aggressive football approach.

Financial details of Lingard's contract were not disclosed. FC Seoul's big offseason moves also included the appointment of a new head coach, Kim Gi-dong.
