The Trinity Gallery in central Seoul is currently hosting the exhibition "Timeless" by artist Kang Yeh-sin, featuring 16 new works that delve into the theme of nostalgia. The exhibition, which runs until January 26, 2024, marks the conclusion of 2023, the Year of the Black Rabbit in the Chinese zodiac.
In her latest creations, Kang Yeh-sin draws inspiration from her personal experiences, particularly her childhood memories spent with her grandmother in a countryside home. The artist, in preparation for the exhibit, revisited the now-abandoned residence, uncovering dusty remnants like cracked earthenware, rusty handcarts, and faded rubber basins.
Recalling her childhood practice of assigning names to animals and objects around her, including rabbits, geese, cats, squirrels, traditional Korean wooden podiums ("maru"), and even the toilet, Kang Yeh-sin sought to recapture the essence of that time. In her artist's note, she expressed the act of abandoning her imaginative world for years but rediscovering it during her recent visit.
Attendees have the opportunity to experience "Timeless" at The Trinity Gallery, where Kang Yeh-sin's 16 new works will be on display until January 26, 2024.
