Former Manchester United Midfielder Linked to Two-Year Deal with South Korean Club
▲ Courtesy of Jesse Lingard's official InstagramReports from British media earlier in the day indicated that Lingard, 31, is close to signing a two-year contract with FC Seoul, with an option for a third season. The midfielder has been without a club since leaving Nottingham Forest last summer. Lingard began his club career with Manchester United in 2011, spending 11 seasons with the club. He joined Nottingham Forest in 2022 following their promotion to the Premier League.
With 32 caps for England, Lingard played a key role during the country's run to the semifinals at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. If the deal is finalized, Lingard would be a notable addition to the top South Korean league.
During the current season, Lingard trained with West Ham United, where he scored nine goals in 16 matches during a loan in the 2020-2021 season. Lingard also spent time training with the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq and has reportedly received offers from Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
FC Seoul, aiming for a turnaround after spending the past four seasons in the middle tier of the K League 1, recently appointed new head coach Kim Gi-dong for the upcoming season.
