While "My Lovely Liar" may not have lit up the charts in its home country of Korea, the cable channel tvN's latest fantasy romantic comedy series has taken the international streaming world by storm.
According to the network, the 16-part series has achieved the remarkable feat of securing the top spot on TV series viewing charts in more than 140 countries, showcasing its immense popularity on the global stage. tvN, a subsidiary of entertainment powerhouse CJ ENM, proudly shared this remarkable achievement.
"My Lovely Liar" made an explosive debut by dominating Rakuten Viki's viewership charts for two consecutive weeks following its premiere on July 31. It quickly captured the hearts of audiences in over 130 countries across Europe, Oceania, and America.
This Korean rom-com sensation didn't stop there; it also clinched the top spot in Asia, enchanting viewers in countries such as Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
At the heart of the series is the captivating story of Mok Sol-hee, affectionately known as the "Liar Hunter." Her unique ability to discern truth from deception leads her on an unexpected journey when she crosses paths with the renowned composer Kim Do-ha, who vehemently claims his innocence in a murder case. As their paths intertwine, Sol-hee finds herself increasingly drawn to Do-ha, a man who stands out for never uttering a lie in her presence, unlike many others.
Sebastian Kim, Director of the CJ ENM International Content Sales Team, emphasized the global appeal of the show, stating, "The global popularity of lead actors Kim So-hyun and Hwang Min-hyun created an explosive synergy with tvN's rom-com series, which has been garnering international viewers' attention with its own unique charms." This widespread acclaim underscores the universal allure of "My Lovely Liar" and its ability to resonate with audiences worldwide.
