In a significant leap onto the global scene, Shownu and Hyungwon from the celebrated K-pop ensemble Monsta X recently made a prominent appearance on the esteemed talk show "Good Day New York," aired Tuesday in the local time zone.
During their guest introduction, hosts Ryan Kristafer and Bianca Peters effusively praised Monsta X, acknowledging the group's international impact through tracks like "Who Do U Love" and "Someone's Someone." The hosts also expressed their eager anticipation for Shownu's performance and Hyungwon's adept production skills, showcased in their latest collaborative album.
When queried about the conception of Monsta X's inaugural subunit, emerging eight years after the group's debut, Shownu X Hyungwon expressed, "We dedicated considerable effort to this project, aiming to offer our fans something they will enjoy. Our intention was to present a different facet of ourselves, diverging from the familiar image associated with Monsta X."
The debut album "The Unseen" by the duo features the captivating title track "Love Me a Little" and "Roll With Me," both skillfully produced by Hyungwon. Drawing inspiration primarily from films and dramas, Hyungwon conveyed that this creative process underpins his music direction.
The choreography for the title track was meticulously crafted by Shownu, who shared his aspiration to convey nuanced emotions through the dance. Expressing his excitement for a fresh endeavor after a prolonged hiatus due to military service, Shownu conveyed his enthusiasm for the new venture.
Presently, Shownu X Hyungwon is poised to rendezvous with their worldwide admirers for the very first time as a Monsta X subunit at KCON LA 2023 and the Krazy K-Pop Super Concert in New York. The pair expressed their elation at the prospect of performing before their fans after an extended period and conveyed their commitment to delivering an exceptional performance that resonates.
The duo's debut album, "The Unseen," saw its release on July 25, with the resounding title track "Love Me a Little" delving into the inner conflict between one's authentic self and societal expectations. Skillfully curated by Hyungwon, this track was complemented by Shownu's artful choreography, embodying the synergy of their collaboration.
