Actors Hwang Min-hyun and Kim So-hyun Star in tvN's Upcoming Romantic Comedy

In an enchanting tale of love and deception, tvN's new romantic comedy series "My Lovely Liar" is set to captivate audiences. Premiering on Monday, the show centers around Mok Sol-hee (played by Kim So-hyun), a woman gifted with the ability to detect lies, who soon discovers that her extraordinary power is more of a curse, leading her to harbor deep mistrust towards others.

Portraying a shaman to mask her unique talent, Sol-hee employs her lie-detecting skills to assist clients. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she encounters the successful composer and producer Kim Do-ha (portrayed by Hwang Min-hyun) as her new next-door neighbor. Strangely, she finds herself drawn to him, as he appears to be the only person she cannot detect lies from.

Under the direction of Nam Sung-woo, known for his work on popular rom-coms like "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo" and "My Roommate Is a Gumiho," and with the script by Seo Jung-eun, who previously penned the 2021 rom-com series "Let Me Be Your Knight," "My Lovely Liar" promises to resonate with viewers on multiple levels.

During an online press conference for the series, director Nam Sung-woo shared his insights, stating, "In your life, you will come across countless lies. So I think (the series) will have a lot of elements that viewers can relate to." He emphasized his focus on the romantic comedy aspect of the show, leveraging his expertise in the genre to portray how relationships form amidst the theme of deception.

Lead actress Kim So-hyun highlighted her efforts to depict her character as relatable despite her unique ability. She aimed to present her as a normal individual who assumes a professional demeanor while utilizing her special power for work. The actress candidly shared that the experience of imagining life with the lie-detecting ability was quite exhausting, leading her character to isolate herself from others.

On the other hand, Hwang Min-hyun, making his first foray into the romance genre, expressed his initial apprehensions. However, he found reassurance in the guidance of the experienced director and co-star, Kim So-hyun, ensuring a heart-fluttering performance in this delightful series.

With the promise of romance, laughter, and unexpected twists, "My Lovely Liar" is set to air every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m., leaving viewers eagerly awaiting the unraveling of love's mysteries amidst the backdrop of deception.
