*Gallery Hyundai: The Artistry of Lee Sungja*
At Gallery Hyundai, visitors have the chance to immerse themselves in the captivating works of artist Lee Sungja. Lee Sungja embarked on his artistic journey in Paris shortly after World War II. While many male Korean artists of his time had gained experience during the colonial era and studied in Japan in the early 20th century, Lee Sungja chose a different path. In the heart of modernist Paris, he embraced abstraction while using geometric symbols and transcending time and borders to craft his own lyrical abstract language.
갤러리현대에서는 이성자 작가의 작품을 볼 수 있습니다. 이성자작가는 제2차 세계대전 직후 파리에서 활동을 시작했습니다. 한국 남성 작가들 대다수는 20세기 초 식민지 시절 일본 유학 후 경력을 쌓은 반면, 이성자는 프랑스 수도 파리에서 모더니즘을 수용하는 동시에 시간과 국경을 초월하는 기하학적 기호와 상징을 사용하여 자신만의 서정적인 추상 언어를 추구했습니다.

*Hakgojae Gallery: Bridging Traditions and Modernity*
Hakgojae Gallery showcased the works of the first-generation Korean contemporary artists who played a significant role on the global stage in the 20th century, alongside contemporary artists who reinterpreted Korean traditions in a modern light. Kim Bo-hyun, with his bold and expressive style, painted utopian visions that transcended the boundaries of East and West. Byun Wol-ryong used classical Western painting techniques to depict the homeland and its people. Lee Jun, a pioneer in Korean geometric abstract art, captured forms from nature that extended beyond human perception. Lastly, Ryu Kyung-chae painted the emotions stirred by weather in a lyrical abstract style.

학고재갤러리는 20세기 세계적 무대에서 활동한 한국 현대 미술 1세대 작가들의 작품과 더불어 한국 전통을 현대적으로 재해석한 동시대 작가들의 작품을 선보였습니다. 김보현작가는 거침없고 풍부한 표현력으로 동서양의 경계를 초월하는 유토피아를 그렸냈습니다. 변월룡 작가는 고전적인 서양화 기법으로조국과 그 인물들을 표현했습니다. 한국 기하 추상미술 선구자인 이준 작가는 인간이 인식할 수 있는 범위를 넘어선 자연의 형태를 포착했습니다. 그리고 류경채작가는 날씨가 불러일으키는 감정을 서정적인 추상 화풍으로 그려낸 것을 볼 수 있습니다.

*Wooson Gallery: The Intensity of Byung-So Choi*
Wooson Gallery presented a compelling juxtaposition of Byung-So Choi's newspaper series from the 2000s and his video art from the 1970s. The newspaper series consisted of repetitive lines drawn with pencils and ballpoint pens, continuing until the paper reached its physical limits and could bear no more. Ink and charcoal often covered the entire surface, occasionally tearing the paper apart.

*Tornabuoni Art Paris: The Evolution of Italian Art Icons*
우손갤러리는 최병소작가가 2000년대에 작업한 강렬한 신문지 연작과 1970년대에 작업한 비디오아트를 함께선보였습니다. 신문지 연작은 연필과 볼펜으로 반복적으로 그은 선으로 구성됐습니다. 종이가 물리적 한계에 도달해서 더 이상 작업할 수 없을 때까지 반복한 것입니다. 잉크와 흑연이 표면 전체를 뒤덮고 종이가 심지어 찢어지는경우도 있습니다.

Tornabuoni Art Paris showcased the works of Italian art icons from the late 20th century, offering a glimpse into the evolution of canvas and sculpture. Visitors had the opportunity to explore the creations of renowned artists from the Milan School, such as Lucio Fontana, Paolo Scheggi, and Enrico Castellani, well-known to collectors in Korea. What's fascinating about this exhibition is the broader social context in which these artists worked, akin to a panoramic view of their artistic journey.

파리의토나부오니아트는 20세기 후반 캔버스와 조각의 진화를 살펴볼 수 있는 전후 이탈리아 미술의 아이콘들의작품을 선보였습니다. 루치오 폰타나(Lucio Fontana), 파올로 스케지(Paolo Scheggi), 엔리코 카스텔라니(Enrico Castellani) 등 국내 컬렉터들에게 이미 익히 알려진 밀라노 스쿨 작가들의 작품을 만날 수 있습니다. 본 전시에서는 이들이 작업했던 더 큰 사회적 맥락을 파노라마처럼 볼 수 있는게 흥미롭습니다.
