The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (President JO Hyun-rae, KOCCA) are jointly hosting the K-Content EXPO in Spain from October 4 to 7 at the Novotel Madrid Center in Madrid, Spain in support of Korean businesses to find new export markets for the Korean Wave in Europe.
Organized since 2016, the K-Content EXPO has facilitated B2B transactions of content by helping businesses to explore key emerging and potential markets in major areas overseas, promote K-content, and tap new markets. Following the EXPO in Singapore last July, which helped expand the market in Southeast Asia, the second event of this year will be held in Spain as a bridgehead into the European market. Over the past three years, the amount of K-content export to Europe has been on a steady rise at an average annual rate of 17.6%, making Europe an increasingly prominent market. Notably, the EXPO in Spain will feature key buyers not just from Spain but also from France and the U.K, among others. As such, the event serves as a great opportunity for K-content makers to reach out to buyers in various countries in the European region.
At the EXPO, 31 Korean businesses and 40 international buyers will engage in one-on-one export consultation, content exchange talks, content investment pitch, networking, and joint training at local businesses.
During export consultations, European buyers from Spain, France, Germany, and the U.K., among others, will engage with Korean businesses one-on-one. At the content exchange talks, discussions will be held on the changes and trends in intellectual property (IP) and the platform industry before and after COVID-19, and prospects of new media.
During the content investment pitch, 17 Korean businesses and content products will be presented to international buyers.
On October 7, 2022, the last day of the EXPO, Korean businesses will visit local content businesses in Spain: Antena 3, a Spanish private television channel and a distributor of broadcast video content, and Tequila Works, a video game developer. Participants will gain an understanding of how the local content industry works, establish networks, and explore new business opportunities.
