The Cheonan K-culture Expo, scheduled to take place at the Independence Hall of Korea in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, will run from May 22 to 26.
Organized by the Cheonan Foundation for Arts and Culture, the expo will encompass various events highlighting Korean cultural content. These include Korean musical performances, hanbok fashion shows, and exhibitions chronicling the history of K-pop.
As part of the festivities, the K-POP World Audition has been launched, offering a K-pop song and dance competition with a prize of 10 million won ($7,400) for the winner. The audition is open to applicants of all nationalities, genders, and ages, with submissions accepted through online application forms and performance videos until April 22.
In conjunction with the expo, the Independence Hall of Korea will host special exhibitions focusing on Korea's independence movement against Japanese colonial rule (1910–45), as well as exchange exhibitions highlighting independence movements from other countries, such as Greece, Hungary, and Morocco.
Additionally, a conference on Korea's cultural industry will be held, centering on nine fields including K-food, K-beauty, and K-webtoon.
Cheonan Mayor Park Sang-don expressed anticipation for the event, noting last year's attendance of approximately 130,000 visitors. This year, organizers aim to present an even more diverse range of programs, activities, and food to showcase the charm of K-culture.
