Vivian Choi Gallery is pleased to present "The Abstract Field of Color; Color Beyond the Radiance"

 

It is a group exhibition of three artists; German-based Korean artist Won Kun Jun, LA-based Korean artist Park Soo Jung and Australian-based artist Andy Harwood. The exhibition focuses on basic elements of paintings such as lines, shapes, dots, and colors and the process of creating illumination and vibrancy of colors.

German-based artist Won Kun Jun, lived and worked in Germany since the 1990s, has explored the relationship between the abstract realm of monochromatic color and color by using the fundamental of painting, "color," and has expanded into a new perspective of the artist. Color is the basic element and core theme of Won Kun Jun’s paintings. He made space in his paintings by putting many colors on top of each other over time. He also captured the infinite depth of light and color that comes from different shades of color.

Park Soo Jung is a Los Angeles-based artist Her work lines up with the "Light and Space" and "Light and Space Movement" art movements that began in Southern California in the 1960s, when minimalism was popular in New York. Artists in the western United States created Op art, Minimalism, and Geometric Abstraction. They used geometric shapes and light to focus on the viewer's "sense of space" and "perception." by using industrial materials like glass, plastic, and acrylic to make "Light and Space" art. However, Park Soo Jung’s works can be distinguished from using old and traditional materials like ink and pigments.

Born in Australia, Brisbane-based artist Andy Horwood has participated in several galleries in Sydney, Madrid, London, and Austria for more than 15 years. Especially, in 2020, Andy Howard's latest work, “9 to the Power of 9 (2)”, was presented in the exhibition Bauhaus NOW at the Museum of Brisbane and received great attention from museum curators and collectors around the world.

Vivian Choi Gallery is in Seoul Gangnam, and “The Abstract Field of Color; Color Beyond the Radiance” exhibition runs through September 30^th.
