In a heartwarming revelation that has taken the K-pop world by surprise, former idols Thunder and Mimi have come forward to share that they have been in a committed romantic relationship for the past four years. Thunder, whose real name is Park Sang-hyun, took to Instagram on Friday to express his feelings in a heartfelt handwritten letter. "I revealed my relationship with Mimi through 'Second House,'" he shared, referring to the popular variety show.
Expressing their gratitude for the support they have received, Thunder added, "We hope you support our relationship. ... I will continue to present a positive side of myself as a passionate artist." Mimi, also known by her real name Jeong Mi-mi, echoed these sentiments in her own handwritten message on Instagram. Despite her desire to personally share the news, she expressed her appreciation for the opportunity provided by the broadcast.
Mimi further conveyed her deep affection, stating, "I have found someone I wish to spend my entire life with. I hope you offer warm support for our future together." The couple's love story was unveiled through a trailer for the upcoming season of KBS's variety show, "Second House 2," where they had the chance to meet and interact with Choi Soo-jong and Ha Hee-ra, one of Korea's beloved celebrity couples.
Promptly following the news of their relationship, media outlets reported that Thunder and Mimi are planning to tie the knot in the latter part of next year. This announcement has stirred excitement among their fans, who have eagerly followed their respective careers since their debut.
Mimi made her debut as a member of gugudan in 2016, known for their popular songs such as "Chococo" (2017) and "Not That Type" (2018). While the group has been on hiatus since 2019 and officially disbanded on December 31, 2020, Mimi has continued her journey in the entertainment industry as an actor. Not currently signed with an agency since her contract expired with Jellyfish Entertainment, she remains focused on developing her acting career.
Thunder, on the other hand, embarked on his musical path in 2009 as a member of MBLAQ. After leaving the group in 2014, he ventured into the realm of solo music, releasing multiple albums that showcased his versatility as an artist. Last year, Thunder delved into the realm of hip-hop as a rapper, unveiling his first single, "Up."
