NCT Dream, a K-pop boy group known for its upbeat songs about dreams and aspirations, has returned to the music scene with a more mature and confident image in their latest album, "Dream()scape." The album, containing six tracks including the title track "Smoothie," marks the group's first release in eight months since their third full-length album, "ISTJ."
At a press conference held at Grand Walkerhill Seoul, group leader Mark expressed that while NCT Dream has previously showcased passion and optimism, "Dream()scape" presents a more relatable narrative for those who may be uncertain about their dreams or facing inner turmoil.
The title track, "Smoothie," is described as a hip-hop song featuring elements such as 808 bass and a snare rhythm, with lyrics that challenge prejudices and negative perceptions towards the group.
Despite the thematic focus, the group emphasized their dedication to musical quality and sound production. Haechan highlighted their departure from conventional album structures, indicating a deliberate effort to enhance the overall album experience.
Known for their dynamic choreography, NCT Dream promised powerful dance performances in "Dream()scape," with member Jisung describing the choreography as intense yet nuanced, particularly in the chorus sections.
Each track on the album reflects the individual concerns and contributions of the members, with songs like "Unknown" and "Breathing" conveying comfort and emotional depth.
Notably, members Mark and Zeno collaborated on rap lyrics, showcasing a back-and-forth style not typical in their previous works.
Following the album release, NCT Dream is set to embark on their third world tour, "The Dream Show 3," with three concerts scheduled in Seoul starting from May 2nd.
