Two monumental ceramic walls resembling sculpted ocean waves now greet visitors at the entrance of Dubai's luxurious Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab hotel. Created by Dutch architecture firm Studio RAP, the installation called "Blue Voyage" showcases the cutting-edge potential of 3D-printed ceramics in large-scale architectural design. The impressive structures serve as a sculptural gateway between the hotel's exterior and interior spaces, defining the entire arrival experience for guests.

Positioned strategically on either side of the main lobby entrance, each wall stands an imposing six meters tall and stretches nine meters in length. The installation draws its inspiration from the natural movement and rhythm of the nearby Persian Gulf waters, transforming the dynamic flow of ocean waves into solid ceramic form. Through sophisticated computational design techniques, the artists translated water's fluid motion into thousands of flowing lines that vary in both density and depth across the surface.

The wave-like forms create a tactile gradient that responds beautifully to changing light conditions throughout the day. As natural sunlight and artificial illumination shift, the ceramic surfaces reveal different textures and patterns, making the installation a living piece that evolves with time.
