Luxury auction house Gooding Christie's has reported its most successful year to date, generating over $234 million in total sales across four major automotive auctions in 2025.The company, recently acquired by Christie's, saw a 14% increase in year-over-year results, selling 906 vehicle and automobile lots with an impressive 96% sell-through rate. Notably, 52 lots sold for over $1 million, marking a significant milestone in the collector car market.A standout moment was the record-breaking sale of a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider Competizione for $25.3 million, which became the most valuable car ever sold by the auction house. This sale not only set a new world record for the Ferrari California Spider model but also surpassed the previous top lot record by nearly $3 million.The auction highlights included successful sales at prestigious events like Amelia Island and Pebble Beach, where the company achieved $67 million and $128 million in total sales respectively. A particularly notable auction was the Stan Lucas Collection sale, which saw a 100% sell-through rate and established multiple world records for vintage automobile marques.Looking ahead to 2026, Gooding Christie's plans to expand its international presence, including its first European auction at Rétromobile Paris in January and a debut at Rétromobile New York in November.President David Gooding expressed pride in the company's achievements, emphasizing their commitment to growth and dedication to their clientele in the collector car market.
