Acclaimed French architect Dominique Perrault, known for designing the National Library of France, has been selected to lead an innovative urban renewal project in the Saige district of Pessac. Working alongside MBL architects, Perrault won the "Quartier de demain" (Neighborhood of Tomorrow) competition, with the official announcement made on Tuesday, December 2nd at the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine in Paris.

The winning project focuses on rehabilitating and transforming Tower 8 in this working-class neighborhood through a philosophy of "working with" existing structures. Perrault advocates for regenerating the district by building upon what already exists rather than starting from scratch. "Saige can regenerate on itself," the architect explained, emphasizing his commitment to preserving and reimagining the current urban fabric.
