SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment are capitalizing on Hybe's recent challenges, with their K-pop groups gaining increased attention. A leaked private message between Hybe Chairman Bang Si-hyuk and Ador CEO Min Hee-jin, disclosed after a fallout between the two, showed Bang urging Min to "crush" SM Entertainment's girl group aespa.
This remark generated public disapproval and boosted support for aespa. Their latest music video for "Supernova," released last week, received positive comments from fans. The title song is currently topping the Top 100 and Hot 100 charts on Melon, South Korea's largest music streaming service, and has reached the top of the daily K-pop chart on China's Tencent Music platform.
Culture critic Jeong Deok-hyeon observed that other entertainment companies' K-pop groups are benefiting from Hybe's issues, with aespa fans rallying in response to Bang's remark and Babymonster gaining a renewed chance due to the comparison with Le Sserafim's recent performance.
