A stunning Art Deco-inspired apartment in Paris has become so luxurious that its owners now look forward to returning home from vacation, claiming their residence rivals even the finest five-star hotel suites. The remarkable transformation was achieved by Parisian interior designer Kelly Boukobza, whose work combines classical elegance with striking contemporary elements.

Kelly Boukobza, founder of KY Architecture, draws inspiration from diverse sources including furniture by Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand, artwork by Keith Haring and Piet Mondrian, and the latest trends in hospitality design. "I love checking out hotels," she explains. "Even in Paris, I regularly go to spend a night in one." This passion for hospitality aesthetics clearly influences her residential projects, where she consistently integrates Art Deco interior design elements.

The apartment, located on Paris's Right Bank, showcases several stunning Art Deco features, most notably a travertine fireplace with ribbed, rounded forms that serves as the focal point of the sitting room. "When you think of stone, you imagine something rectilinear and solid," Boukobza notes. "With this model, I wanted to demonstrate that it doesn't need to be hard and cold. Its forms make it a lot gentler."

The project began when the apartment's owner, Sarah, approached Boukobza after following her work on Instagram for years. "Kelly was one of the first people I started following on Instagram," Sarah recalls. "For me, she embodies Parisian elegance. I told her, 'Decorate the space as if it were your own.' I didn't want to direct or restrict her." This creative freedom allowed Boukobza to fully realize her vision for the space.

Boukobza's approach involved maintaining the apartment's classical Parisian character while adding unexpected contemporary twists. Her interiors are characterized by particular attention to both floors and ceilings. The living room ceiling features a striking diamond pattern treatment, while the floor designs were inspired by a visit to the Palace of Versailles during the project. "When I see something that inspires me, I never copy it literally," she emphasizes. "I always want to transform it."

The kitchen showcases one of the apartment's most dramatic features: a graphic three-toned marble floor conceived as a deconstructed version of traditional Versailles parquet. "I love onyx, but didn't want to do the whole floor in it. That would have been too expected," Boukobza explains. "Instead, I inserted bands of it into the parquet." This innovative approach demonstrates her ability to reimagine classical elements in fresh, contemporary ways.

Throughout the apartment, Boukobza incorporated numerous striking design gestures. The entryway features a wavy mirror placed against a textured, striped wall that she created herself using tile adhesive and a tiler's rake-like tool – a process that took just five minutes but resulted in maximum visual impact. "I did it with the glue you use to fix tiles, which was then painted," she describes. "I borrowed the tiler's rake-like tool."

Marble plays a central role throughout the design, reflecting Boukobza's belief that "it's like a miracle from nature, which is never the same." The shower in the white and green marble bathroom resembles a swirling sea, while the guest powder room features bookmarked Panda White marble. "For me, this room is very calming," Sarah observes. "I love the way the veins of the marble flow across the space. It's like a wave of serenity."

The children's room represents perhaps Boukobza's most creative achievement in the apartment. She designed a custom bunk bed system lodged in an alcove with its own staircase, combining playful design with practical functionality. A third mattress is concealed in the structure's base for sleepovers, while each step contains a hidden storage drawer. "The bunk bed is my creation of the year," Boukobza proudly states. "I really wanted to design a cool space where kids walk in and go 'Wow!'"

The dining area fulfills Sarah's specific request for a space suitable for entertaining family, centered around a large dining table that accommodates gatherings. The Parisian-style decor throughout creates an atmosphere of refined elegance that seamlessly blends classical and contemporary elements.

The transformation has exceeded all expectations, creating a living environment so appealing that it has fundamentally changed the owners' relationship with travel and home. "Nowadays, we're happy to get back from holiday," Sarah admits with satisfaction. "It's better here than even a five-star suite." This remarkable achievement demonstrates how thoughtful interior design can elevate a residential space to rival the world's most luxurious accommodations, proving that home can indeed be the ultimate destination.
