A lecture series designed to provide young architecture firms with greater opportunities to showcase their work and share professional insights is entering its fourth edition in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The initiative, titled "Mehr Raum für..." (More Space for...), is organized by the association Raum.NRW, whose founders are committed to promoting a diverse, equal-opportunity professional landscape and sustainable building culture.
The upcoming series will feature four evenings, each dedicated to highlighting a young architecture firm from North Rhine-Westphalia as they provide insights into their professional practice. The program kicks off on Thursday, August 28, 2025, with the Architekturmodellbau Kollektiv (AMBK) from Cologne taking center stage.
The format emphasizes casual conversations between students and interested participants, focusing on sharing experiences and challenges from daily work life in a personal and direct manner, far removed from traditional project presentations, according to the organizing association. Beyond showcasing project portfolios, the discussions will cover practical aspects such as office organization and client acquisition, the competition system, and pathways to self-employment.
Following the tradition established in previous years, the lectures will take place in the respective firms' offices or in nearby studios and workshops, creating an intimate and authentic environment for learning and networking. The format receives support from the State Initiative for Building Culture NRW (Landesinitiative Baukultur NRW).
The complete schedule includes four Thursday evening sessions, all beginning at 7 PM. Following the opening session with Architekturmodellbau Kollektiv at Widdersdorfer Straße 325-327 in Cologne on August 28, the series continues on September 18 with Bruncken Frett Architekten at Marienstraße 71, also in Cologne. The third session on October 23 features max + moritz architektur at Am Bergbaumuseum 43 in Bochum, while the final presentation on November 27 showcases Winkler Architektur at Rheingasse 14 in Cologne.
Participants are required to register by email at mehrraum.nrw, and each event offers two continuing education points from the Architecture Chamber of North Rhine-Westphalia (AKNW). The lecture series represents an important platform for emerging architectural talent in the region to gain visibility and share their innovative approaches to contemporary building challenges.
