Five luxury hotels, guesthouses, and spas around the world are showcasing furniture and design pieces from Dezeen Showroom, demonstrating how carefully selected products can create serene and relaxing environments for guests. The sixth edition of Dezeen's In Situ series highlights international hospitality venues that have incorporated lighting, seating, and bathroom products from the furniture directory to enhance their contemplative atmospheres.
The featured projects span from New York and Perth to Barcelona and Mykonos, representing a diverse range of design approaches unified by their commitment to creating peaceful, welcoming spaces. Each venue selected products that not only serve functional purposes but also contribute to the overall aesthetic and emotional experience of their guests.
At Les Clarisses boutique hotel in Barcelona, Spain, the historic 17th-century building that once served as a convent now features striking Array lighting by architect and designer Umut Yamac for Vibia. The pendant lights consist of threads pulled taut between aluminum rings, with three pieces floating in the hotel's lofty lobby. Interior designer Susanna Cots also incorporated Vibia's Flamingo lights in a private dining room within one of the hotel's restaurants. According to Vibia, the Array collection was chosen for its ability to harmonize and fill the space with light while maintaining calm and balance, bringing movement and softness to welcome guests with warmth and serenity.
The Lovia Mykonos hotel in Greece showcases the Milos outdoor collection by French designer Jean-Marie Massaud for Spanish brand Vondom on its pool terrace overlooking the Aegean Sea. The collection features lozenge-shaped cushions and rounded edges inspired by Mediterranean landscapes and how sea wind and tides smooth rocks over time. Available in single and double-width versions, the sun loungers were selected as a high-end, hospitality-ready collection that unites design and nature, featuring cream-tone aluminum, Glad Desert performance fabrics, and iroko wood details that echo the island's natural palette.
In southern Italy, Masseria Dagilupi features the Vieques Outdoor bathroom collection by Patricia Urquiola for Italian company Agape. Despite being designed for outdoor bathing, the collection works seamlessly in the indoor bathroom space designed by local studio Corsaro Architetti. The collection includes a countertop sink, freestanding washbasin, and bathtub inspired by old-fashioned outdoor tin tubs, complemented by iroko wood accessories including hook-on shelves and a tub backrest. The architects noted that the clean, vertical design of the washbasins and bathtub underlines the roundness of the vaults and niches while creating a paradoxically warm atmosphere.
Ember Bath House in Perth, Australia, located in a former warehouse, features an earthy, tactile interior scheme that includes Offcut wall sconces by New Zealand brand Nightworks Studio. The sconces tie into the space's aesthetic through backplates made from roughly-hewn offcuts of pale travertine stone, reflecting the chunks of stone found throughout the interior. The teacup-shaped bulbs emit warm, inviting light that creates low mood lighting in the dressing area. Studio Traces creative director Tracy Zorich explained that they were drawn to the tactile nature of the Offcut wall sconce, which connected with the materiality and earthy qualities of the bathhouse.
At S10 spa in Manhattan's West Village, the common area features a Cloverleaf sofa by Danish designer Verner Panton, originally designed in 1969 and now manufactured by Verpan. The modular sofa is upholstered in powder pink fabric and named after its undulating, lobed shape reminiscent of a four-leaf clover. Architecture studio Büro Koray Duman selected the piece in this blush-hued colorway to complement the pale birch plywood wall cladding and provide double-sided seating for clients. The studio found the sofa versatile for the public space, allowing privacy when needed while facilitating conversations, and appreciated its sculptural quality as a central statement piece.
Dezeen Showroom provides an affordable platform for brands to launch new products and showcase their designers and projects to a global audience. The platform continues to demonstrate how thoughtfully selected furniture and design elements can transform hospitality spaces, creating environments that prioritize guest comfort and aesthetic appeal while reflecting each venue's unique character and location.
