Pearl Abyss, a Korean game publisher, announced on Thursday that it has received approval from China’s National Press and Publication Administration to operate 15 titles in the country, including its popular mobile game Black Desert.
Black Desert, a massively multiplayer role-playing game (MMORPG), was first released in Korea in 2015. The game has been translated into 12 languages and boasts 5 million global users.
Last month, Pearl Abyss revealed that it had signed a deal with Tencent, a leading Chinese game company, to operate Black Desert in China.
The announcement of the approval came after Black Desert was showcased at the game conference Spark 2024 in May, where Tencent unveiled its new lineups for the year.
