SM Entertainment Launches Jazz Trio Project with Reimagined K-Pop Classics

SM Entertainment's classical and jazz label, SM Classics, is set to release a groundbreaking jazz project album that reinterprets iconic K-pop hits.The SM Jazz Trio, comprised of pianist Johan Kim, bassist Hwang Ho-gyu, and drummer Kim Jong-guk, will debut their first physical album 'PINK NOTE' on November 10th. The group will preview their first double title track 'Only One (Jazz Ver.)' today, showcasing a unique musical approach that goes beyond simple genre translation.The album features ten jazz renditions of hit songs from SM Entertainment artists, including tracks originally performed by BoA, EXO, Girls' Generation, SHINee, Red Velvet, NCT DREAM, and RIIZE. The trio aims to explore the boundaries between K-pop and jazz, offering a fresh perspective on familiar musical landscapes.Since their debut in August 2024 with the single 'Supernova (Jazz Ver.)', the group has been gaining attention in the jazz scene for their innovative interpretations. Their subsequent releases, including '11:11 (Jazz Ver.)' and the original track 'Prometheus', have established their distinctive musical identity.The group will support the album release with a series of promotional activities, including a highlight medley and a guerrilla performance.
