Croatian furniture brand Prostoria has launched BONDS, an innovative documentary-style film series that explores the intricate relationships between people, ideas, and design in the furniture industry. Conceived in collaboration with emerging filmmakers, the three-episode series presents a cohesive portrait of design as a collaborative, human-centered practice that extends far beyond mere functionality.

The BONDS series invites viewers to reimagine furniture not as static objects, but as silent witnesses to life's pivotal moments and as connectors between people, places, and ideas. Each episode blends documentary storytelling with a cinematic aesthetic, reflecting Prostoria's core design philosophy of creating pieces that are both functional and emotionally resonant. By featuring voices from diverse disciplines, the series reveals how thoughtful design forms meaningful connections across different spheres of human experience.

The first episode, "BONDS with Polygon," opens in Zagreb with celebrated creative director Davor Bruketa, co-founder of BruketaŽinićGrey, who welcomes viewers into his home to explore his personal relationship with design. At the center of his living room for over a decade sits the Polygon easy chair, one of Prostoria's most iconic pieces known for its striking geometry and exceptional comfort. The chair has witnessed the unfolding of everyday life, from quiet moments of reading to lively family gatherings, becoming an integral part of Bruketa's domestic narrative.

The episode gains profound emotional depth as Bruketa recounts how the chair was damaged during the devastating 2020 Zagreb earthquake. Prostoria's decision to fully restore the piece demonstrated the brand's unwavering dedication to lasting quality and customer care. This gesture transformed a simple furniture repair into a powerful symbol of how design objects can transcend their functional purpose to carry memories, emotions, and deep personal meaning throughout life's unexpected challenges.

The second episode, "Manu – A House in Harmony with Nature," transports viewers to the picturesque island of Vis, Croatia, where House Manu serves as a modern Mediterranean retreat. Designed by Biro Luksic for entrepreneur Zoran Sainovic, the house is perched in the hills above the Adriatic Sea, masterfully balancing privacy and openness while seamlessly merging indoor and outdoor living spaces through architecture that embraces the local climate and landscape.

Prostoria's furniture collection plays a crucial role in shaping the experience of this remarkable home. The Echo sofa and armchair create a serene living area that promotes relaxation and contemplation, while the Monk dining table and Bik chairs bring intimacy to shared meals among family and friends. The Osmo and Jugo outdoor pieces extend comfort into the natural surroundings, allowing residents to fully embrace the Mediterranean lifestyle. For Sainovic, the house represents far more than mere shelter – it embodies a complete lifestyle philosophy where architecture, nature, and furniture coexist in quiet, harmonious balance.

The final episode, "BONDS with MVA Architects," explores Prostoria's ongoing collaboration with MVA Architects, led by Mikelic & Vres in Zagreb. Over the years, these architects have successfully integrated Prostoria furniture into numerous high-profile projects, including the MDK production and business facility, which has become a landmark office building in Croatia. The film captures the natural synergy between architecture and furniture design as the architects reflect on their shared values and creative inspirations.

"We share the same passion for good design and quality. In our work, we often look for inspiration in mid-20th-century modernism – the 1950s and 1960s. Prostoria and we share values like simplicity, functionality, abstraction, and an approach how to treat materials, both in design and the creative process," explains Mikelic & Vres from MVA Architects. Their partnership with Prostoria exemplifies how thoughtful furniture selection can complement and elevate architectural spaces, creating environments that feel simultaneously contemporary and timeless.

The BONDS series, created in collaboration with Oda Communications, represents Prostoria's commitment to showcasing the deeper connections that surround furniture design and manufacturing. By offering audiences a rare glimpse into creative processes usually hidden from public view, the documentary series underscores the collaborative spirit behind Prostoria's collections while celebrating the profound impact that well-designed furniture can have on human experiences and relationships across diverse settings and contexts.
