Jang Won-young of IVE discussed the themes of independence and confidence showcased in the group's second EP, "IVE Switch," which dropped at 6 p.m. on Monday. The six-track EP includes two lead tracks: "Heya" and "Accendio." Jang took sole credit as the lyricist for the track "Blue Heart."
Through a press release, the members of IVE elaborated on the concept behind "IVE Switch" and their training process for the EP. Jang highlighted the group's efforts to display multiple facets through new production approaches, with "Heya" characterized by a powerful hip-hop genre and fable-inspired lyrics, while "Accendio" exudes a mysterious charm.
Member Liz emphasized the contrasting performances staged with the double lead tracks, likening the mood shifts to the flick of a light switch.
According to member Gaeul, "IVE Switch" diverges from their previous album by showcasing multifaceted perspectives on love with a more self-reliant attitude.
IVE, consisting of An Yu-jin, Jang Won-young, Gaeul, Rei, Liz, and Leeseo, debuted in 2021 and is recognized for hits like "Eleven" (2021), "Love Dive" (2022), "After Like" (2022), and "Off the Record" (2023).
Currently on their first world tour, "Show What I Have," IVE has completed the Asia and U.S. legs and is scheduled to perform in Europe starting with a concert in France on June 4, followed by shows in Latin America and Australia. The tour will conclude with an encore concert at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
