Twice’s Tzuyu has made an impressive debut as a solo artist, topping the iTunes Top Albums chart in 11 regions with her first solo EP, “aboutTZU,” according to her agency JYP Entertainment. Released last week, the mini album sold over 220,000 copies on the first day of its release, following a remarkable 460,000 pre-orders, signaling strong anticipation from her global fanbase.
The lead single, “Run Away,” is a dance track that highlights Tzuyu’s smooth vocals and marks a significant step in her musical career. In addition to “Run Away,” the six-track album features “Heartbreak In Heaven,” a collaboration with BTOB’s Peniel, and “Fly,” for which Tzuyu penned the lyrics for the first time, showcasing her growth as a songwriter. Fans and critics alike have praised the album for its versatility, blending various musical styles that reflect Tzuyu’s artistic range.
On Monday, Tzuyu shared a heartfelt message to her fans via social media, expressing gratitude for the support during the first week of promotions. Draped in a white dress, she captioned the post with “Run run away,” a reference to her main track, adding a personal touch to her message of thanks.
As the youngest member of Twice, Tzuyu’s solo debut follows in the footsteps of fellow members Nayeon and Jihyo, both of whom have also launched successful solo careers. Tzuyu’s entry into the solo scene further cements her status as a versatile artist, capable of standing out both as a member of the renowned K-pop group and as an individual performer. With her solo venture off to a strong start, fans are eager to see what more Tzuyu has to offer as a solo artist.
