Walt Disney Company Korea has announced that its Disney+ original series Moving, directed by Park In Je and based on the webtoon by Kang Full, will begin airing on MBC starting December 22. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in bringing high-quality streaming content to broader audiences via terrestrial television.

Moving is a compelling narrative about children with hidden superpowers and their parents, who harbor secrets of their own from the past. Known for its intricate storytelling, the series has already gained global acclaim for its powerful cast and dazzling direction. Notably, the show represents Kang Full’s first foray into drama screenwriting, a challenge he has met with critical and commercial success.

A Disney Korea spokesperson stated, “We wanted to make Moving accessible to a wider audience. By airing it on MBC, we aim to showcase this high-quality content to more viewers.” The company emphasized its commitment to transcending traditional platform boundaries and delivering compelling stories to diverse audiences. “We hope this collaboration will demonstrate the storytelling power of Moving and serve as a catalyst for similar initiatives in the future,” the spokesperson added.

Kang Full expressed his excitement about the terrestrial broadcast, stating, “It’s an honor to bring Moving beyond OTT platforms to terrestrial TV. I hope the series touches even more hearts through this opportunity.”

MBC plans a special release of the first eight episodes over three days, from December 22 to December 24. Regular weekly broadcasts will follow, with two episodes airing every Sunday night starting in January 2025. The scheduling reflects the network’s confidence in the series’ ability to resonate with viewers and generate sustained interest.

Since its debut on Disney+, Moving has been lauded for its ability to combine emotional depth with high-stakes action, a blend that has captivated international audiences. Featuring stars like Jo In Sung, Han Hyo Joo, and Ryu Seung Ryong, the show is a testament to the strength of Korean drama’s global appeal.

The decision to move to terrestrial TV highlights a growing trend of high-budget streaming originals finding a second life on traditional networks. This approach not only extends the series’ reach but also underscores the evolution of storytelling in the digital age.

With its stellar cast, engaging storyline, and cross-platform reach, Moving is poised to set a new standard for collaborations between OTT platforms and traditional broadcasters, reflecting the transformative potential of media convergence in a rapidly changing entertainment landscape.
