Actress Han Ye Ri has joined the growing wave of candlelight rallies calling for the impeachment of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. On the night of November 9, Han shared a video from a rally held in front of the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, signaling her silent yet powerful solidarity with the movement.
The rally featured citizens holding candles and banners while chanting for President Yoon’s resignation. Without adding further commentary, Han’s post conveyed a poignant message through a single image, resonating with many in attendance and online.
The candlelight rallies have gained momentum following the failure of the impeachment motion against President Yoon on November 7. The motion, which sought to address mounting public discontent, was blocked when 105 members of the ruling People Power Party abstained from voting. In response, the rallies have evolved to demand both Yoon’s impeachment and the dissolution of the ruling party.
