The First Major Retrospective in Korea for Arnold Newman, Who Became an Icon of the Times

The retrospective exhibition of Arnold Newman, known as an icon of the times for his distinctive photographic vision, is being held at Museum Hanmi.
Running through March 23, 2025, this exhibition is the first major retrospective of his work ever presented in Korea.
Newman pioneered the innovative technique of "environmental portraiture," surpassing the boundaries of conventional portrait photography.
His works vividly portray the identity and achievements of his subjects within their environments, capturing not only their inner essence but also the historical and cultural contexts of their time.
This exhibition features over 200 works, spanning 60 years of Newman’s career, including his early experiments, creative portraits, and commissioned works.
Visitors will gain a deeper understanding of the artist’s creative journey through a variety of narrative themes and exhibition arrangements.
