After 20 years of success and over $2 billion in cumulative revenue, Ragnarok is preparing for a new era by embracing Web3 technology. The iconic MMORPG is being transformed into Ragnarok Landverse through a partnership between Zentry and Sky Mavis, with the game debuting on the Ronin blockchain.

Zentry, a leader in Web3 gaming technology, aims to combine its expertise with Ronin's robust game distribution network to usher in a new chapter for Ragnarok, which has captivated over 100 million players worldwide. The on-chain version of Ragnarok will retain its classic gameplay while offering players ownership of digital assets and new opportunities to generate income. This initiative is expected to introduce millions of gamers to the Web3 ecosystem by seamlessly integrating traditional gaming experiences with blockchain-based asset ownership and community engagement.

As a pioneer in unified play economies, Zentry has established a strategic partnership with Maxion, its primary game technology studio, and Gravity, the original publisher of Ragnarok. The result is Ragnarok Landverse, a project designed to let players enjoy the classic MMORPG experience while exploring the potential of Web3 technology. Players can undertake quests, battle monsters, and engage in community activities, all within a blockchain-enhanced framework.

Since its soft launch, Ragnarok Landverse has already attracted over 400,000 players and generated more than $15 million in revenue from NFT and in-game item sales. These figures underscore the growing interest in blockchain-enabled gaming.

Ronin, the blockchain platform renowned for hosting popular Web3 games like Axie Infinity and Pixels, is set to provide the ideal environment for Ragnarok Landverse. With 4.7 million monthly active users and 3 million daily transactions, Ronin is one of the fastest-growing gaming blockchains in the world. Its infrastructure ensures a smooth and scalable entry point for players transitioning to Web3.

Jarindr Thitadilaka, founder and CEO of Zentry, highlighted the broader vision behind the collaboration: “Our partnership with Sky Mavis goes beyond launching Ragnarok Landverse on Ronin. We aim to demonstrate how major IP games can successfully transition to Web3, combining exceptional gameplay with the intrinsic value of blockchain asset ownership. We are dedicated to onboarding 50 million global gamers into the Web3 ecosystem.”

The partnership between Zentry and Ronin is set to extend beyond Ragnarok Landverse. Zentry also serves as a node validator for the Ronin network and plays a critical role in onboarding players to the Ronin-based Nexus portal, further expanding the gaming community.

Pre-registration for Ragnarok Landverse began on December 19, with the official launch scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. This marks a significant milestone in the evolution of a beloved franchise and sets the stage for a new era of blockchain-enhanced gaming.
