An immersive exhibition inspired by Giuseppe Tornatore’s iconic film Cinema Paradiso is set to open in Seoul. Organized by Soop International, the exhibition will run from December 20 to March 30, 2025, at Galleria Foret in Seongdong-gu.

Titled “Cinema Paradiso Immersive Special Exhibition – TO.TOTO,” the event recreates the world of the beloved 1990 film, transporting visitors to the Sicilian cinema, wheat fields, and village square featured in the story. These locations are brought to life through advanced digital technology, creating an interactive and atmospheric experience for fans and newcomers alike.

A highlight of the exhibition is the “Music Room,” where visitors can experience the original soundtrack composed by Ennio Morricone in immersive surround sound. The legendary music director’s evocative compositions have long been synonymous with the film’s emotional resonance.

In addition to the digital recreations, the exhibition features documentary footage and interviews with Tornatore and Morricone, offering behind-the-scenes insights into the creation of the cinematic masterpiece.

This event is part of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Italy, co-organized by Soop International and Italy’s leading immersive exhibition production company, Crossmedia Group. Following its Seoul debut, the exhibition is set to tour Southeast Asia and eventually open in Italy.

Cinema Paradiso, released in 1990, tells the story of Toto, a boy who discovers his love for cinema under the mentorship of projectionist Alfredo. The film is a heartfelt exploration of friendship, nostalgia, and the power of storytelling. It won numerous accolades, including the Grand Prix at the 42nd Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 62nd Academy Awards, and continues to captivate audiences through frequent re-releases.

This immersive exhibition not only celebrates the enduring legacy of Cinema Paradiso but also offers visitors a chance to experience the film’s world in a new and innovative way. By combining cutting-edge technology with the timeless charm of Tornatore’s vision and Morricone’s music, the event bridges the past and the present, inviting a deeper appreciation of one of cinema’s most cherished works.

With its global tour plans, the exhibition promises to extend the magic of Cinema Paradiso to audiences far and wide, ensuring its themes of love, friendship, and the transformative power of cinema continue to resonate for generations to come.
