French artist Agnès V has successfully transformed her vision of creating a year-round cultural hub into reality since opening the LAPOSTROF gallery in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer in November 2024. The painter, who established her art space behind the former post office of the seaside resort town, has already proven that her ambitious goal of keeping the venue active throughout the year was well-founded.
While developing her gallery as a vibrant cultural center, Agnès V has been expanding her artistic repertoire in unexpected directions. Sharp-eyed festival-goers at the Bières en Live festival in late July may have spotted her working in a corner of the stage at the Concié esplanade in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer. "I created paintings of Joey Starr during his concert and of Ben l'Oncle Soul," explained the artist, describing her unique approach to capturing live performances through her brush.
This innovative technique, which Agnès V has dubbed "peintrophony," represents the art of painting during live events and performances. The concept combines the immediacy of live music with the visual creativity of painting, creating a unique artistic experience that captures both the energy of the moment and the essence of the performers. Since opening her gallery, she has been committed to bringing the space to life by organizing various exhibitions featuring not only her own canvases but also works by other artists.
The LAPOSTROF gallery represents more than just a commercial venture for Agnès V – it serves as a creative laboratory where she can experiment with different artistic expressions while fostering a community of artists and art lovers. Her success in maintaining an active cultural calendar and developing new artistic techniques like peintrophony demonstrates her commitment to pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms while contributing to the cultural vitality of Saint-Palais-sur-Mer.
