South Korean visual and media artist Ayoung Kim was named the first ACC Future Prize winner, which was opened at the National Asian Cultural Center.
The award is a biennial system designed to discover artists with creative art languages that expand innovative future values and possibilities.
The International Review Board said Kim's unique way of incorporating multi-layered visual elements into overlapping and powerful narratives was impressive.
The artist captured a fictional scenario with a futuristic world twist and an open ending given by AI in her work.
She has continued multidisciplinary work covering video, moving images, sound installation, performance, VR, game simulation, fiction, and text.
The artist held a solo exhibition at Gallery Hyundai in 2022 and won the Prix Ars Electronica Award for her major work, Delivery Dancer's Sphere, in 2023, as well as many other world-renowned authorities.
Her work will be available in person at the ACC Future Prize 2024: Ayoung Kim, held from Aug. 30 to Feb. 16, 2025.
Meanwhile, on April 22, the artist had a conversation about three works of art through the 'Modern Mondays: An Evening with A Young Kim' event at MoMA, a representative art museum in New York.
